Browser settings, add-ons, toolbars and plug-ins can all cause Internet Explorer 7 to crash. Deleting IE7's existing settings will remove these third-party utilities, restoring the browser to its original state. Before resetting the browser, however, you can load IE7 without add-ons to determine if third-party additions are the source of the error.

Click "Start." Type "internet explorer" into the "Start Search" box. Choose "Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)" from the results. If IE7 crashes after launching the application, proceed to the next step.

Click the Windows logo located on the taskbar. Type "internet" into the "Start Search" field. Click "Internet Options."

Click "Advanced." Click "Reset," located under the section "Reset Internet Explorer Settings."

Click "Reset" again. Click "Close." Restart Internet Explorer.
- 1Click "Start." Click "Control Panel." Type "internet options" into the search field near the top of the window.
- 2Choose "Internet Options" from the results. Click "General" then click "Delete," located below "Browsing history."
